Leading up to the IPL 2024 showdown between the Rajasthan Royals and the Royal Challengers Bengaluru last Saturday, the Royals championed a meaningful cause with their ‘Pink Promise’. Sporting a distinctive all-pink matchday kit, the men in pink showcased their dedication to a social initiative. Through a video shared on the platform X (formerly Twitter), featuring notable players like Sri Lankan cricket icon Kumar Sangakkara, the team underscored the importance of their Pink Promise for the women of Rajasthan. This endeavor aims to rally support for the empowerment of women, particularly those hailing from rural regions of Rajasthan, who play pivotal roles in societal advancement. Profits from the sale of the special pink jerseys contributed to the social equity arm, “The Royal Rajasthan Foundation”.
Additionally, with every six hit during the RR vs RCB match, the foundation brightened six homes in the Sambhar region of Rajasthan. The stadium itself underwent a vibrant transformation, bathed in pink hues for this special occasion.
An array of celebrities graced the event, pledging their support alongside the team for the empowerment of women, especially those from rural Rajasthan, who hold significant societal influence. Among the distinguished attendees were Australian women’s cricket star Amanda Jade Wellington, multi-talented comedian and actress Aanchal Agrawal, Olympian and a sharpshooter Apurvi Chandela, Indian football sensation Dalima Chhibber, and Indian women’s team cricketers Sneh Rana and Meghna Singh. The melodic voice of singer Chitralekha Sen and a captivating dance performance by Ashwini Parde added to the allure of the Pink Promise day festivities.
