T20 World Cup 2024: Suryakumar Yadav Wants 3-in-3; How will this affect his bank balance?

"Suryakumar Yadav's rise from $1 million to $6 million net worth driven by IPL success, international career, endorsements."

Suryakumar Yadav is a vital cog in Team India’s quest to become T20 World Cup champions once again. After all, he is the only cricketer to have won the ICC Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year Award twice – not a mean feat by any stretch of imagination. T20 cricket is SKY’s forte, and both the international cricket and the IPL have seen extraordinary innings from the 360* batter. Ahead of the 2024 T20 World Cup, Surya’s goal is clear – help India to the ICC glory, and second – win an unprecedented third consecutive Men’s T20I Cricketer of the Year Award. https://x.com/surya_14kumar/status/1795845841649086946 Why wouldn’t SKY? When you are the best in what you do, name, fame, attention and money are mere byproducts. It’s been three years since Surya made his debut for Team India. A lot has changed in SKY’s life, and so has his net worth and bank balance. So, how much has the success on the cricket pitch, transpired in multiplying Surya’s bank balance. Suryakumar Yadav’s Net Worth Before Team India Debut – 2020Before his debut for the Indian Cricket team, Suryakumar Yadav was known for his consistent performances in domestic cricket and the IPL. As of 2020, his net worth was estimated to be around $1 million.  This figure was largely driven by his IPL contracts, domestic cricket salaries, and a few brand endorsements. In 2018, Suryakumar was signed by the Mumbai Indians for INR 3.2 crore (approximately $450,000).  His stellar performances for Mumbai Indians over the years, especially his ability to play crucial innings under pressure enhanced his market value. Despite not having played for India yet, his reputation in the IPL made him a valuable player. However, his earnings were still limited compared to the financial heights he would reach post his international debut. Suryakumar Yadav’s Net Worth in 2024By 2024, Suryakumar Yadav’s net worth has skyrocketed to an estimated $6 million. This dramatic increase can be attributed to multiple factors, including his successful stint with the Indian Cricket team, a fat IPL paycheque and a slew of lucrative brand endorsements. Post his India debut in 2021, Suryakumar quickly became a mainstay in the Indian T20I and ODI teams. His consistent performances, his aggressive batting style and ability to finish games, made him a fan favorite and a regular feature in advertisements and brand campaigns.  His IPL salary also saw a significant jump, with Mumbai Indians retaining him for INR 8 crore (approximately $1.1 million) in 2022.  As per the 2024 central contracts released by the BCCI, Suryakumar Yadav has been retained under the ‘Grade B’ category, entitling him to earn INR 3 crores while representing the Indian Cricket Team Brand SponsorshipsSuryakumar Yadav has become the face of several high-profile brands across various sectors. Companies in the sportswear, automobile, and FMCG sectors saw immense value in associating with Suryakumar. Brands like Reebok, Hyundai, and Boost signed him as their ambassador, leveraging his popularity and marketability. His social media presence also grew exponentially, providing another avenue for brand collaborations and sponsored content. Becoming the Number One Choice for Mumbai Indians Suryakumar Yadav was seen as a utility player by the Mumbai Indians management back in 2018. However his consistent performances soon elevated his status. His ability to anchor the innings, combined with his aggressive stroke play, made him an indispensable part of the team. Over the years, he played several match-winning knocks, often in crucial situations, which earned him the trust of the team management and the captains. One of them being his most recent 102* off 51 against the Sunrisers Hyderabad in IPL 2024. SKY’s match winning knocks provided confidence to the MI batting lineup. Net Worth Increase Post T20 SuccessThe shortest format of the game, especially the IPL has been a major catalyst in Suryakumar Yadav’s financial growth. His performances in the IPL not only earned him a higher salary but also increased his visibility and market value. The lPL provided him with a platform to showcase his talent against some of the best cricketers in the world, which in turn attracted more lucrative deals. Post his successful IPL seasons with the Mumbai Indians, Suryakumar’s brand value saw an increase. Brands were keen to associate with him, not just for his on-field performances but also for his off-field persona. The IPL’s global reach helped him gain a fan base beyond India, further increasing his appeal to multinational brands. His financial success can be directly linked to his consistent performances in the IPL, making him one of the wealthiest cricketers in the modern era. Suryakumar Yadav’s net worth, which was a modest $1 million in 2020, multiplied significantly to $6 million by 2024. This growth can be attributed to his success in the IPL, his consistent performances for India, and his growing list of brand endorsements.  If Suryakumar continues to shine during the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 and if India is able to strike gold, Surya’s financial and brand value are only expected to grow further. 2024 T20 World Cup: Pass or Fail – Team India’s Stars’ ‘IPL Report Card’

Ahead of the 2024 ICC Men's T20 World Cup, here's a look at India's IPL performance and their prospects for the tournament.

Cricket fans need not worry. The IPL might be over, but the action continues. The focus now shifts from the Indian Premier League to the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024.  Like always, Team India is one of the favourites to win the T20 World Cup. The fans want it dearly, even the players do. This is a good time to introspect Team India’s 15-member-squad and their current form, on the basis of the IPL going into the ICC event. So, here we go then.  1. Rohit Sharma [Captain]First comes the captain – Rohit Sharma. Mumbai Indians finished at the bottom of the table. Like his team, Rohit also had an indifferent IPL 2024 season.  The first half produced consistent runs, and also a century against Chennai Super Kings at Wankhede. However, the fizz died down in the second half, especially in the knockout matches for the 5-time-IPL champions. With 417 runs from 14 matches, at a strike rate of 150, with a mere century and one half-century, MI fans wanted more from their Hitman. Statistically, the numbers look good, but given the high standards Rohit has set for himself, he would consider this performance as a below par one. Both Rohit Sharma and his fans would be hoping that he did save some big runs/knocks for the upcoming T20 World Cup. This could also be Rohit Sharma’s last ICC event for Team India, and he would like to make every opportunity count for the Blues.– Rating: 5/10 2. Hardik Pandya [Vice Captain]Hardik Pandya’s IPL 2024 season was marked by struggles both with the ball and the bat. His bowling was particularly expensive, conceding 387 runs in 14 matches at a high economy rate of 10.75, and he only managed to take 9 wickets, showing his inability to control the run flow or consistently take wickets. With the bat, Pandya was underwhelming, scoring just 216 runs at an average of 18.00 and a strike rate of 125.71. His highest score was 42, indicating a lack of significant contributions throughout the season.  These stats highlight a tough season for Pandya, underlining the need for a significant turnaround in form as he heads into the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, where his performance will be crucial for India’s middle-order stability and overall success.– Rating: 3/10 3. Virat KohliVirat Kohli’s IPL 2024 performance was nothing short of spectacular. He amassed 741 runs in 14 matches at an impressive average of 57.00 and a strike rate of 140.50.  Kohli’s consistency was evident as he scored eight half-centuries and two centuries, with his highest score being an unbeaten 112. His ability to anchor the innings while maintaining a brisk scoring rate made him the standout batsman of the tournament.  This remarkable performance not only earned him the Orange Cap but also reaffirmed his status as one of the best T20 batsmen in the world.  Heading into the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, Kohli’s form will be crucial for India’s success, and his stats from IPL 2024 provide a strong foundation for optimism.– Rating: 9/10 4. Suryakumar YadavSuryakumar Yadav’s IPL 2024 season showcased his potential despite some inconsistency. He scored 480 runs in 16 matches at an average of 32.00 and an impressive strike rate of 148.75.  SKY managed to hit five half-centuries, with his highest score being 87 not out. His ability to accelerate the scoring and play innovative shots made him a vital asset for his team. Despite his occasional lapses in form, his overall performance with the bat was commendable.  As he gears up for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, Virat would be expected to deliver match-winning performances, especially in crucial games against top teams like Pakistan and during the knockout stages.– Rating: 6/10 5. Rishabh Pant [Wicket-Keeper]Rishabh Pant’s IPL 2024 performance marked a significant comeback, demonstrating his batting prowess and ability to handle pressure. He scored 450 runs in 14 matches at an average of 37.50 and a remarkable strike rate of 155.00.  Pant’s aggressive style and consistency were evident as he notched up four half-centuries, with a top score of 92. His ability to accelerate the innings and play impactful knocks, especially while batting in the middle order, provided stability and momentum to his team.  These impressive stats from the IPL 2024 season set high expectations for Pant to deliver similar performances for India in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024, reinforcing his role as a key player in high-pressure situations.– Rating: 7/10 6. Sanju Samson [Keeper]Sanju Samson’s IPL 2024 season highlighted his potential to contribute significantly, even though he has struggled under pressure at times. Samson scored 531 runs in 15 matches at an average of 35.40 and a strike rate of 143.00. He showcased his batting skills with six half-centuries, his highest score being 84. Samson’s ability to play aggressive and fluent innings provided crucial runs for his team.  Despite occasional lapses, his overall performance in the IPL 2024 was strong, giving him the confidence to step up at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. These stats underline his capability to be a valuable asset for the Indian team, especially if he can overcome his struggles in high-pressure situations.– Rating: 7/10 7. Axar PatelAxar Patel’s IPL 2024 performance solidified his reputation as a dependable all-rounder. With the bat, he scored 275 runs in 14 matches at an average of 22.91 and a strike rate of 135.00, providing crucial lower-order runs for his team.  His highest score was a quickfire 48 not out, demonstrating his ability to finish innings strongly. With the ball, Axar was equally impressive, taking 18 wickets at an economy rate of 7.66. His best bowling figures were 3/18, showcasing his knack for breaking partnerships and maintaining pressure on the opposition. T20 World Cup 2024: 3 Key Takeaways from Team India’s Squad

Team India T20 World Cup 2024

After immense speculation and deliberation, the selection committee led by Ajit Agarkar finally revealed the Men’s national squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup in the West Indies and the US. Rohit Sharma will lead the team, with Hardik Pandya serving as his deputy. Veteran batter Virat Kohli has made it to the squad, despite the talks around a dip in his strike rate, beyond the powerplay in T20s. The team also comprises two wicket-keepers Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson in the squad, with Jasprit Bumrah as the leader of the attack. Here’s the complete squad: Team India’s 2024 T20 World Cup Squad: Rohit Sharma(C), Hardik Pandya(VC), Yashasvi Jaiswal, Virat Kohli, Suryakumar Yadav, Rishabh Pant(WK), Sanju Samson(WK), Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, Kuldeep Yadav, Yuzvendra Chahal, Arshdeep Singh, Jasprit Bumrah, Md. Siraj Reserves – Shubman Gill, Rinku Singh, Khaleel Ahmed, Avesh Khan The social media was abuzz after the men’s squad was announced, with several fans questioning Rinku Singh’s omission from the main squad. Some also questioned, Team India’s bowling depth with Arshdeep Singh and Md. Siraj getting the nod over the likes of in-form Harshit Rana, Avesh Khan, and others. 3 Major Takeaways from Team India’s Squad Announcement: a) The return of the King – Virat Kohli Given the stature of the man, Virat Kohli should walk into any team, but this time things were different. Although he is the holder of the Orange Cap at the moment (till April 29, 2024), there was a lot of noise in and around the strike rate with which Kohli was batting in the IPL. He has 500 runs from 10 matches, with a strike rate of close to 148, yet fans were not convinced of having Kohli in the World T20, especially with batters who score at close to 170 or 180 strike rates. However, the selectors might have thought of the big-match temperament and the experience that he carries and drafted the great man into the squad. At 35, this could be Virat Kohli’s last shot at the T20 World Cup silverware. b) Rishabh Pant & Sanju Samon – The men behind the stumps: For multiple reasons, Rishabh Pant and Sanju Samson’s selection deserves to be celebrated. After what happened in December 2022, Pant’s return to competitive cricket in IPL 2024 has been remarkable, to say the least. In Sanju Samson’s case, he left the selectors with no option but to pick him after his consistent and match-winning performances for Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2024. With 385 runs from nine matches, Samson is the leading run scorer among all Indian wicketkeeper batters in the IPL 2024. His unbeaten 77 off 33 balls to guide the Rajasthan Royals home against the Lucknow Super Giants in a chase of 197 is probably the best of the lot. c) Kul-Cha & Dube make their mark The T20 World Cup squad also witnessed the return of wrist spinners – Kuldeep Yadav and Yuzvendra Chahal into the national team. Chahal last played for India in August 2023, and has been the pick of the bowlers in IPL 2024 with 13 wickets from 9 matches. He is the only spinner in the race for the purple cap this season. For Shivam Dube, the big man has been in tremendous form this season. He has played the role of a finisher for Chennai Super Kings in the IPL. The southpaw has smashed 350 runs from 9 matches, at a whopping strike rate of 172.41. However, the tall fellow is yet to prove his credentials at the international level. Team India will commence their T20 World Cup campaign against Ireland on June 05th in New York, followed by the big one against Pakistan at the same venue on June 09th. India’s last two fixtures are scheduled against the hosts USA and Canada on June 12th and June 15th.

T20 WC 2024 : The 3 P’s Behind Sanju Samson’s ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 Selection

The BCCI selectors on Tuesday (April 30th, 2024) announced Team India’s 15-member squad for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. The tournament will be held in the USA and the West Indies and will commence on the 01st of June 2024.  Rohit Sharma will lead the team, with all-rounder Hardik Pandya as his deputy. However, all eyes are on Kerala wicketkeeper Sanju Samson, who is also leading the Rajasthan Royals in IPL 2024. Even before the team was announced, Sanju Samson’s name was trending on social media platforms. From former cricket players to pundits to journalists, everyone was speculating whether the Royals skipper would be on that plane to the Caribbean or not. It seems that the Ajit Agarkar-led selection committee finally decided to reward Samson with a well-deserved spot in the Indian T20 squad. Maybe his stellar form in the ongoing IPL 2024 has played a significant role in his selection. Samson, Rajasthan’s leading run-getter in the IPL 2024The Rajasthan Royals are sitting pretty at the top of the table in IPL 2024, with eight wins from nine matches. Samson, the skipper, has led the team well and is also their leading run-getter this season. Till the game against the Lucknow Super Giants in Lucknow (played on April 27), Samson has smashed 385 runs from nine matches at a strike rate of 161.08 with the help of four half-centuries. It’s not just the runs that Samson has scored in the IPL that caught the attention of the selectors. It is the way he has scored those runs, in a winning cause, under extreme pressure cooker situations that has made the difference. He has made batting at the number 3 spot look easy and scored runs against top-quality bowlers that literally forced the selectors to not overlook him this time around. Samson made his debut in 2015.Sanju Samson is not a youngster anymore. He is a 29-year-old experienced batter who made his debut for India way back in 2015 under MS Dhoni’s leadership.  Not the tallest of guys on the cricket field, Samson packs a punch and relies more on hand-eye coordination, timing, and finding the gaps on the field. Over the past nine seasons, Sanju Samson has been the biggest mystery in Indian cricket. Not that he wasn’t scoring runs, but his selection into the team and later forcing him to warm the benches irked his fans considerably. If selected, he wasn’t included in the playing XI, despite some big names failing considerably and consistently over the last couple of seasons, which sometimes made Sanju Samson’s fans wonder: what more can he do to make it into the playing XI? This time around, Samson isn’t just knocking on the selector’s doors; he left no stone unturned to ensure he was there on the flight to the West Indies.  In July 2015, Samson played his first T20I against Zimbabwe in Harare. The smiles didn’t last long, as he had to wait four and a half years to don the Indian Blues again. Overall, the right-handed batter has scored 374 runs in 25 T20I matches at an average of 18.7 and a strike rate of 133.1.  Samson has played 16 ODIs and 25 T20Is for India so far. Inconsistency was one area where Sanju Samson lacked, but not any more. Was it just the performances that kept Samson’s hopes alive? Definitely not.  Here are the 3 P’s that kept his hopes alive.  Patience: Nine years after Samson made his international debut, he could never seal a spot in the playing XI. What did the man do? He never gave up on his dreams of playing for the country.  Every time Samson was dropped, he went into the domestic circuit and the IPL and scored a plethora of runs. Persistence: Over the years, Samson has stayed true to his goals. Every time he was ignored, he went back to the drawing board, figured out the loopholes in his technique, and came back stronger with some scintillating domestic and IPL performances.  Performance: Samson has been the mainstay for the Rajasthan Royals for a couple of years now. While speaking about domestic T20 performances, Samson’s 122 off just 56 deliveries for Kerala still remains one of the greatest displays in the Indian domestic setup. With the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup coming up, all the participating 20 teams will be eyeing the coveted prize come June 29th. For India to lift the trophy after a gap of 17 long years, they need an X-factor. Believe it or not, just like Yuvraj Singh in 2007, Samson has all the qualities to be India’s X-factor in the Caribbean.  Sanju Samson’s story epitomizes the virtue of patience. His perseverance has proven that talent, coupled with resilience, ultimately earns its deserved place in the limelight.
