The Indian squad, led by an impressive performance from Mumtaz Khan (4′, 23′) and Deepika Soreng (6′, 29′), exhibited skill and determination throughout the match. Mumtaz Khan wasted no time, scoring a field goal just four minutes into the game, followed by another by Deepika Soreng in the 6th minute.
However, Poland fought back with Julia Kucharska (8′) and their Captain Marlena Rybacha (10′) notching up field goals, leveling the score at 2-2 with five minutes remaining in the first half. Undeterred, Mumtaz Khan (14′) secured her second goal, ensuring India held a narrow 3-2 lead at halftime.
The second half saw both teams engaged in a defensive battle, with limited goal-scoring opportunities. Nonetheless, India’s persistent pressure paid off when Mariana Kujur (23′) extended the lead to 4-2 with a brilliant finish.
With three minutes left on the clock, Paula Slawinska (27′) of Poland intercepted an Indian pass, narrowing the gap to one goal. Deepika Soreng (29′) responded swiftly, restoring India’s two-goal advantage. In a last-minute twist, Monika Polewczak (29′) scored for Poland, making it 5-4 with just a minute left. The Indian Women’s Team held firm, securing a hard-fought victory.
