Sport possesses a unique power to transform lives, disregarding distinctions of gender, caste, or creed. What truly counts are talent, attitude, and intent. While discussions on women’s empowerment frequently trend on social media, sparking debates among youth on the metro or over dinner with family, there remains a scarcity of individuals or groups actively dedicated to empowering countless talented women.
However, very few individuals or organizations have undertaken the responsibility of initiating change in the lives of millions of talented women out there, searching for that singular platform, opportunity, and source of guidance to showcase their potential to the world.
One such budding community is Women In Sport India, based in Pune, led by Vaidehi Vinayak Vaidya.
WISI, as it is fondly called, is a community empowering women in sports and fitness, building opportunities and transforming lives. Their goal is to empower 10,000 women by 2026.
Dedicated to embracing a fit and active lifestyle, the WISI tribe works on the mantra to – explore, engage, and elevate your game.
Mumbai Sportea Socials – Making Connections, Solving Problems
On May 4th, 2024, Mumbai Sportea Socials was hosted by WISI Tribe by Women in Sport India (WISI). The event aimed to create a dynamic space for women passionate about sports to connect, engage in interactive discussions, and share their experiences.
The attendees were encouraged to bring three top questions or challenges related to sports, which were addressed during the engaging fireside conversations. The event fostered intimate discussions and provided attendees with valuable insights and solutions to their queries.
WISI Tribe, the driving force behind the event, is a community dedicated to empowering women through sports and fitness. Designed for like-minded individuals, WISI Tribe offers a platform for women to network, share knowledge, and support each other in their sporting endeavors.
“We were thrilled to host Mumbai Sportea Socials and provide a space for women to come together, connect, and exchange ideas. It was inspiring to see such passionate individuals engaging in meaningful conversations and empowering each other,” said Vaidehi Vaidya, Founder and MD at WISI.
The event was a resounding success, with attendees leaving feeling motivated and energized to continue their journey in the world of sports.
This seems to be just the start, as the WISI Tribe aims to host many more events like these in the future in their quest to empower women in the sports industry further. A journey that commenced in December 2020 is now not only expanding but also gaining strength with each passing year. However, this appears to be merely the beginning, with numerous more milestones awaiting WISI in the near future.
