J Balvin, Doja Cat And Tems To Headline FIFA Club World Cup Halftime Show

Football’s governing body, FIFA, and international education and advocacy organization, Global Citizen, on Tuesday, June 10, announced a star studded lineup for the half-time show of the FIFA Club World Cup final. The act has been titled FIFA Club World Cup Halftime Show.

It is the fourth such collaboration between the two organisations. FIFA and Global Citizen have previously collaborated for One World: Together At Home, Global Goal: Unite For Our Future, and Vax Live.

In a joint statement the two bodies announced that Colombian singer J Balvin, American rapper and singer Doja Cat and Nigerian singe Tems will be performing at the half-time of the showpiece event which is set to take place at MetLife Stadium in New York New Jersey on July 13. The show will be curated by Chris Martin, the lead singer of British rock band Coldplay.

The United States of America is hosting the revamped FIFA Club World Cup which is set to run from June 14 to July 13. The new iteration of the FIFA Club World will see the participation of 32 teams and has a total prize pot of $1 billion.

According to FIFA the show will support the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, an initiative announced by FIFA President Gianni Infantino and Global Citizen Co-Founder and CEO Hugh Evans. The aim is to raise $100 million to provide children around the world with access to quality education and football. Further, $1 from every ticket sold for the FIFA Club World Cup will proceed to the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund.

“For the first-ever halftime show in a FIFA competition, we’re proud to partner with Global Citizen to bring together a global superstar lineup,” Infantino said in a statement.

“together with our partners at FIFA, we’re calling on football fans everywhere to take action. The FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund brings together the global energy of football and music to raise $100 million – and give children around the world a real chance at a better future. As the Club World Cup kicks off, we’re asking fans to step up, get involved, and be part of the movement driving real change.” Evans added.

Twelve venues across 11 cities in the United States have been earmarked to host matches of the FIFA Club World Cup.
