‘Taking the big players’ wickets felt very good’: Sharjah Warriors pacer Muhammad Jawadullah

In a thrilling DP World ILT20 clash at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Friday, the Sharjah Warriors faced a defeat at the hands of MI Emirates. However, amidst the loss, the spotlight shines on UAE’s Muhammad Jawadullah, the left-arm fast bowler who delivered an exceptional performance by claiming three crucial wickets during pivotal moments of the game.

Post-match, Jawadullah humbly shared his preparedness for the challenging pitch. “I was well-prepared for this pitch because I wanted to help my team as much as I could. I tried to bowl as many Yorkers as I could, and that helped me get three good wickets as well. I also had support from my teammates throughout so that helped a lot as well,” he revealed.

The 24-year-old showcased his skills by dismissing MI Emirates skipper Nicholas Pooran, along with former India batter Ambati Rayudu and Akeal Hosein. Reflecting on his performance, Jawadullah expressed, “Taking the wickets of some of the big players is always a very good feeling for any bowler, including me. Especially such big players who are internationally renowned, it helps boost my confidence as a bowler. I hope I can carry this momentum into the next matches and take my team to victory.”

Jawadullah’s cricketing mentality played a crucial role on the challenging Sharjah pitch, utilizing his experience to finish with figures of 3/31. Discussing the pitch, he mentioned, “On the Sharjah pitches, the length balls as well as the Yorkers are the best balls to bowl for a fast bowler. They help us take the most wickets and also work in our favor in crunch situations.”

Despite the setback, the Sharjah Warriors remain determined to bounce back. Their next challenge comes against the Desert Vipers at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Saturday. The team is eager to turn the tide and regain momentum in the ongoing season.
