The victorious Indian Cricket Team has finally kept their feet on their motherland post winning the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. The celebrations have already begun in the country. The team met the honorable Prime Minister, Shri. Narendra Modi, in Delhi earlier this morning. As the Indian Cricket Team landed, a massive crowd flocked around them at the Delhi airport to welcome the World Champions in style. Well, that’s not the only thing the men in blue have on their plates for today. The real celebration awaits in the evening. The Indian Cricket Team is all set to perform a victory parade in Mumbai at the Marine Drive, and a felicitation ceremony at the iconic Wankhede Stadium is on the cards to thank our cricketing superheroes who have brought the trophy home. Speaking of Victory Parades, it’s a cherished tradition for the Indian Cricket Team to thank their fans after World Cup wins. And why wouldn’t it be? Fans go absolutely wild in their support for the Indian team and their favorite stars. Whether it’s a regular bilateral series or an ICC tournament, the Indian Cricket Team always has immense backing. Thus, the victory parade creates the perfect opportunity for both cricketers and fans to celebrate the success together. About The Victory Parade The Indian Cricket Team – Victory Parade is all set to take place at Marine Drive, Mumbai, on the 4th of July, 2024. The celebrations are set to start at 5pm at the venue. The Indian Cricket Team will then enter their base, their fortress, the place where they lifted their last ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup trophy back in 2011, at the Wankhede Stadium. The team will be felicitated by the BCCI officials for their glorious achievements at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. Skipper Rohit Sharma Invites Crowds For The Victory Parade Our captain, Rohit Sharma, took to Twitter (or X) to invite the crowd to join in the celebration. Such celebrations have happened in the past as well. Let’s take a look back at the previous occasions when the Indian Cricket Team’s ICC trophy victories were marked by iconic celebrations. ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2011 The 2011 victory was very much special for both the team and the fans, as it was secured on home soil. On the night of the final, India faced Sri Lanka at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. The moment captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni struck that iconic six into the crowd, the entire nation erupted in celebration. The streets were filled with enthusiastic fans who rejoiced as if they had personally contributed to the triumph. The atmosphere across the country was nothing short of a grand festival. ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2007 The Indian team received a grand reception back home after winning the 2007 T20 World Cup trophy in South Africa. Led by Dhoni, India defeated arch-rivals Pakistan in a nail-biting final to claim the elusive trophy, which helped ease the pain of India’s disappointing exit from the ODI World Cup earlier that year. Following their memorable triumph, the Indian players were paraded in an open-top bus from the Mumbai airport to the Wankhede Stadium. The victory parade caused a complete traffic shutdown as thousands of fans thronged the streets of Mumbai to catch a glimpse of their World Cup heroes. The open-top bus was surrounded by jubilant fans as it traveled through the city. ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 1983 The first time the Indian Cricket Team won the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup back in 1983, they went to England as underdogs, led by Kapil Dev. Upon their return, the Honorable Prime Minister Indira Gandhi hosted a warm welcome for the victorious team.  With Rohit Sharma and his team announcing their victory convoy from Nariman Point to Wankhede Stadium, fans are excited to join the celebratory display of the long-awaited ICC trophy. A jam-packed Marine Drive with another sea of blue is all set to welcome the Indian Cricket Team. The Sportz Planet Desk,Atharva Shetye

These figures suggest a variation in their batting performances, reflecting both potential and inconsistency. Winning only one out of three matches, especially without any successful chases, points to challenges the team faces on this ground. The fact that their victories are limited and their ability to chase targets is yet unproven in Barbados highlights areas for improvement. For a team with India’s caliber and global standing, a better win-loss ratio and more consistent performances would be expected. Hence, the current record does not reflect the high standards typically associated with Indian cricket. Winning two out of three matches and consistently performing well while batting first indicates a solid strategy and effective execution. Although they have not yet won a match while chasing, their overall record at this venue is positive and reflects their capability to dominate in challenging conditions. Compared to India’s record, South Africa’s performance in Barbados appears stronger, showcasing their adaptability and resilience on this ground. Australia’s disciplined bowling attack, led by Pat Cummins, ensured their comprehensive victory. ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 In the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 final held in Ahmedabad, India met Australia. Australia, chasing 241 set by India, won by 6 wickets. T20 World Cup: Will Guyana Witness England Giving ‘Lagaan’ To Team India?

India expect to take full Lagaan from England in the second semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2024 on Thursday, June 27th.

Over two decades have passed. Generations have changed hands. However, since 2001, every time India and England lock horns on the cricket pitch, the word ‘Lagaan’ rings in special memories. Did the images of Aamir Khan hitting the six off the last ball, coincide with your thoughts? We don’t blame you if it does. A product of the Aamir Khan Productions, the movie was a masterclass, with cricket, in the background. The movie depicts how a team of 11 villagers from Champaner took on the arrogant British Indian Army officers and ended up defeating them. Also Read: T20 World Cup: How Does The ICC Make Money? On Thursday, in Guyana, Rohit Sharma led Team India has the golden opportunity to do Lagaan, once more against England. The occasion is the second semi-final of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. The winner earns a spot in the final, while the loser goes home. The stakes are high, if not higher, like the last time, these two teams last met in a T20 World Cup fixture in Adelaide in 2022. Back then, England hammered India by 10 wickets. Jos Buttler-led-side also went on to lift the T20 World Cup in Australia. The war of words has already begun. Former England skipper Michael Atherton believes India doesn’t stand a chance in the semi-final. “Nasser thinks India is not good enough. And I think England will beat India in Guyana and South Africa will be too good for Afghanistan so it will be a South Africa versus England final.” England has emerged as a strong contender, but their passage into the Super 8s wasn’t smooth. They lost to Australia in the group stage and South Africa in Super 8s. This shows that England is vulnerable, and there lies India’s chance of winning the semi-final. On the contrary, India is yet to be beaten in the tournament. The Blues have registered six straight wins – three in the group stage, and three in the Super 8s. Their most famous win in the tournament came against arch-rivals Pakistan. England vs India – Head-to-Head in T20Is India and England have taken on each other 23 times in T20Is. The Blues lead the tally with 12 wins, while England has emerged victorious 11 times. England has also won two out of the last three T20Is played against India. In T20 World Cups, both teams have faced each other four times. Both India and England share honors with two matches apiece. Come June 27th, the saying – sharing is caring would be thrown out of the window. Both India and England would look to outclass the other. Is this time for India’s revenge and take full Lagaan from England or will Jos Buttler and Co. aggravate the past wounds?

For India to qualify for the semi-finals, they need to register a minimum of two wins out of three matches. Only the top two teams will make it to the semis. This means every match becomes important for Team India, and there is no margin of error from here on. What venues will Team India be playing at? Team India will be playing a total of three matches in the Super 8s, in three different venues. The first one against Afghanistan comes at Bridgetown in Barbados. In the second match against Bangladesh, Team India travels to the North Sound in Antigua. For the final match, the Blues will have to pack their bags and go to Gros Islet, where they take on 2021 edition champions Australia. How are the pitches likely to behave? The Kensington Oval in Bridgetown, Barbados, also the venue of the final, is arguably the best batting surface in the T20 World Cup 2024. The only score of 200 or more in the tournament came at the venue, in the game between Australia and England. The pitch also provides some assistance to slow bowlers, especially wrist spinners. Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua will host a total of four Super 8 matches. The pitch has been a tough one for batters in the Group stage. Scotland chased down 151 to win against Oman, also the highest score at the venue. Bowlers have dominated the proceedings, with fast bowlers picking wickets upfront, and spinners troubling the middle and the lower order consistently. Darren Sammy National Cricket Stadium in Gros Islet is due to host three Super 8 matches. This also includes the big one between Australia and India on June 24. In the two matches played at the Group stage, batters dominated the proceedings. Three out of the four teams scored more than 180 runs at the venue. Sri Lanka top scored with 201 runs against the Netherlands. Start Time for Team India’s matches All of Team India’s Super 8 matches are day games, in case you are in the West Indies. The matches will start at 10:30 am local time, and 2:30 pm GMT. In case you are watching from India, then you may enjoy the matches on Disney + Hotstar from 8 pm onwards. USA Cricket T20 World Cup: Crafting a Blueprint for Associate Nations Success

USA Cricket Team

The 2024 T20 World Cup has thrown up plenty of surprises already. However, no bigger than the USA Cricket Team qualifying for the Super 8s. This was not on many cricket pundits’ bucket list before the start of the tournament. First a convincing victory over Canada, and then sending shockwaves in the whole of Pakistan – the USA cricket team made their presence felt. The Super Over win against Pakistan has put them on the cricket world map. Now, fans not only know that US cricket exists but players like Saurabh Netravalkar, Aaron Jones, and Nosthush Kenjige have become overnight stars. The US Cricket team’s journey has been impressive so far, and inspiring for some. However, the question now beckons, how seriously should one take the USA’s success in cricket? Fluke or Fantastic – Team USA journey in T20 WC? Two wins, one loss, and one abandoned match – this was enough for the USA cricket team to make it to Super 8s. There is a frenzy on social media, with everyone talking about the dream American run. Some are even calling them world-beaters, others giant killers. But wait, isn’t this too early for a team making its T20 World Cup debut? USA head coach Stuart Law, an accomplished batter for Australia during his time, promised fans a few upsets. Their team delivered it in only their second game against Pakistan. This US victory turned the tournament on its head. Against India, the co-hosts competed with a lot of heart but fell short by 7 wickets. A washout against Ireland sealed a Super 8 spot for the US. Their progression was welcomed with open arms, by the cricket fraternity. Even the cricketers would agree that their T20 World Cup 2024 campaign has been a mix of courage, luck, and timing. The USA cricket team’s progression to Super 8s also means that they have now qualified automatically for the 2026 T20 World Cup, to be held in India and Sri Lanka. However, there are very few associate nations that have managed to show consistent upward progression. To name a few, Kenya made it to the 2003 Men’s ODI World Cup semifinals, and Ireland came up with a few upsets in the 2007 edition. The Netherlands stunned England in the 2009 T20 World Cup but is now nowhere. Similar is the case with associate nations like Namibia, Oman, Hong Kong, and Scotland. All these teams have registered upsets, but have never gone on to become a strong force to reckon with. To an extent, Afghanistan is the sole associate nation, whose progression in white-ball cricket has been a commendable one. USA Cricket – What can they do differently? The biggest positive for the US cricketers is that they are in a land of opportunities. They have resources at their disposal, way better than their associate nation counterparts. Success often brings financial rewards. Enhanced funding can improve facilities, coaching, and developmental programs. However, cricket’s progression in the States has been slow and painful, to say the least. The US Cricket Team was first formally organized under the USA Cricket Association in 1965. It took the US Cricket team 39 long years to play their first international match coming against New Zealand in 2004 in London. After just one more match in 2006, the ICC expelled the USACA in 2017 due to financing and governing issues. A couple of years later (2019), the United States Cricket Team under the USA Cricket (USAC) was admitted to the ICC, as an associate member. After five years, the USA defeated Bangladesh to register their maiden bilateral T20I series win against a full-time ICC member. There have been plenty of failed experiments with some good teams in the past. The one area, where the USA scores is the quality of players at their disposal. In 2019, USA Cricket started scouting for talent across the globe. USA Cricket Team – The Core Players Name Role Origin Age Corey Anderson All-Rounder Christchurch, New Zealand 33 Harmeet Singh Spin Bowler Mumbai, India 31 Shayan Jahangir Batter Karachi, Pakistan 29 Shadley van Schalkwyk All-rounder Cape Town, South Africa 35 Aaron Jones Batter Barbados 29 Steven Taylor Batter Jamaica 30 Saurabh Netravalkar Bowler Mumbai, India 32 Head coach Law is confident that having players from different origins, and countries has helped the USA team play as one. “We have got to try and ‘Americanfy’ the whole cricket thing here in the States. We need to play aggressive, attractive-looking cricket to make sure that people sit back and go: You know what, these kids are up for a fight,” Law told to Aljazeera. According to the head coach Stuart Law, the team has the potential to do some damage in the Super 8s as well. In one way or the other, the success of the USA Cricket Team holds significant implications for the future of Associate nations moving forward. How far can the USA go in the T20 World Cup? The answer to that question is anything can happen. Like the USA cricket team has shown in the Group stage already. Now, that they are here in the quarterfinals, the pressure of expectations would increase from here on. The US takes on South Africa at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in North Sound, Antigua. The West Indies and England are waiting next. It would be interesting to see Team USA’s tactics, now that the spotlight is on them. Will they crumble or rise like a phoenix and prove that their Group Stage success was no fluke? Also Read: T20 World Cup: Record Prize Money for Champions
