Mumbai, Maharashtra: Whoever was a part of it couldn’t resist the magnitude of the SportSci Summit 2024 Season 1. Be it the quality of the topics up for discussion, the experts at their disposal, the delegate’s energy, and by every stretch of the imagination, the Summit organized by SportzPlanet was one to be remembered for the ages.
The event had something or another for everyone. From a cricket fan to sports experts to bright young minds, everyone had a gala time at the SportSci Summit 2024. The meet served as a platform for professionals, researchers, and enthusiasts in sports science to come under one roof.

The event kicked off with a special note from Rishi Sutrave, Founder, of The SportzPlanet, followed by an interactive session in Marathi, with Dronacharya Awardee Dinesh Lad. Famous as Rohit Sharma’s coach in the Mumbai cricket fraternity, Lad entertained the audience with his wit and humor. The delegates and the speakers at the SportSci Summit also got a first-hand experience of Lad’s struggles in his three-decade-old cricket journey.
Dinesh Lad set the ball rolling—just the boost—the event needed at the kickoff. The delegates wanted more, and the speakers were ready to share their invaluable experiences. The event had five panel discussions lined up, each one better than the previous one.
First up was a panel discussion on the role of sports physiology, sports psychology, and biomechanics in maximizing athletes’s performance. The discussion was moderated by Dr. Kenjom Ngomdir, Chief Medical Officer with the CRPF. The panel included Dr. Khyati Vakharia, Dr. Nikhil Latey, Mugdha Bavare, and Priyanka Anie Kosle, all of whom gave invaluable insights and opinions.
The tone was set for the rest of the panel discussions after an incredible start. From here on, it was all about sustaining the momentum. What better way than to discuss nutrition, which still continues to be a riddle for people working in the sports industry for years?
Well, not anymore. The riddle was solved to an extent by the elite panel, comprising Anuja Patel, Dr. Amol Patil, Shwetha Bhatia, and Anuradha Khole, well moderated by Shreya Adhav. The topic up for discussion was nutrition in weight category sports: losing like a ‘winner’. The audience got beautiful insights into the world of nutrition and why losing weight isn’t just about dieting or starving in the case of sports athletes.
Other than the panel discussions, there was also an effective and practical workshop on carrying out effective CPR. The workshop was conducted by Dr. Aditya Sood and Dr. Pankaj Narverkar, much to the delight of the delight of the delegates,, who showed tremendous inclination and learning towards learning the right training methods to conduct CPR on the sports field.
Post-lunch break, the panel discussions continued, including several topics: cardiac arrest in sports, integrating wearables for peak sports performance, and ACL injuries. All of these topics drew continuous appreciation from the delegates present at the summit. The experts, too, had a great time putting forward their point of view, explaining the concept to the next generation, and were more than open to answering queries related to the topics.
The SportSci Summit 2024 also had a touch of inspiration associated with it. Olympian Ayonika Paul, also a silver medalist at the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, shared her story under the theme Kahani Kamyabi Ki. The 31-year-old athlete from Mumbai shared her journey with the audience. She opened up about how athletes work behind the scenes to achieve their dream of winning the medal for their country. She also shed light on her struggles and how she coped with injuries and criticism.
Ms. Paul’s presence at the SportSci Summit 2024 and her inspiring story captivated the audience to the hilt. She was the star attraction but in an event celebrating sports science, she too was happily surprised to see the participation of the best minds in the business come under one roof.
From researchers to experts to speakers to delegates, the SportSci Summit 2024 organised by the SportzPlanet gave the perfect platform to the ones associated with Sports Science to come under one roof. The success of the event shows that Sports Science might still be new to the audience out there, but no longer falls under the alien category. The Sports Science boundaries have been breached, the change in mindset is there to be seen, and all of this in just one season.
