Pro Kabaddi League Season 10 Player Auction Gets New Dates

Mashal Sports, the organizers behind the Pro Kabaddi League (PKL), have unveiled revised dates for the Season 10 Player Auction. This eagerly anticipated auction is now scheduled for October 9th and 10th, 2023.

Initially, Mashal Sports had set the PKL Season 10 Player Auction for September 8th and 9th. However, this timetable was adjusted following a request from the Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India. The request arose in consideration of the ongoing preparations of the Indian kabaddi team for the upcoming Asian Games later this month.

Mr. Anupam Goswami, League Commissioner of Pro Kabaddi League, expressed excitement about the rescheduled Player Auction, which will now take place right after the Asian Games. He anticipates strong fan enthusiasm and fierce bidding as several star performers from the Asian Games join the auction, vying for coveted spots in the PKL teams.

In the PKL Season 10 Player Auction, Domestic and Overseas players will be categorized into four groups: A, B, C, and D. Within each category, players will be further classified as ‘All-Rounders,’ ‘Defenders,’ and ‘Raiders.’ The base prices for each category are as follows: Category A – INR 30 Lakh, Category B – INR 20 Lakh, Category C – INR 13 Lakh, and Category D – INR 9 Lakh. The Season 10 Player Pool will encompass over 500 players, including the 24 participants from the two finalist teams of the Khelo India University Games 2023. Each franchise will have a Salary Purse of INR 5 crore to work with.

Ahead of PKL Season 10, the teams have already initiated the process of constructing their squads in accordance with the League Player Policy. In August 2023, the PKL teams exercised their options to retain players from their respective PKL Season 9 squads. Players were retained in three categories: Elite Retained Players (ERP), Retained Young Players (RYP), and Existing New Young Players (ENYP). A total of 84 players were retained, with 22 in the ERP category, 24 in the RYP category, and 38 in the ENYP category. Notably, non-retained players, including stars like Pawan Sehrawat, Vikash Kandola, and Fazel Atrachali, will be available for bidding at the PKL Season 10 Player Auction.

Mashal Sports, in collaboration with Disney Star and under the auspices of the Amateur Kabaddi Federation of India (AKFI), has successfully propelled PKL into one of India’s most prominent sports leagues. The league boasts the largest number of matches among all Indian sports leagues, making it a transformative force in elevating the profile of India’s indigenous sport of Kabaddi and its athletes, both nationally and internationally.
