The Paris Olympics 2024 is all set to begin from the 26th Of July, 2024. India has announced a strong roster for the games and fans have shown appreciation for more female participation in the games. 

There is no doubt that India’s women have achieved remarkable milestones at the Olympic Games. From Nilima Ghose’s pioneering appearance at the Helsinki Olympics to PV Sindhu’s historic double-medal triumph.

Nilima Ghose: India’s Trailblazing Olympian



Nilima Ghose was a young trailblazer when she became India’s first woman Olympian at just 16. In 1952, she raced in the 100m sprint and hurdled the 80m hurdles, paving the way alongside Mary D’Souza Sequeira, another sprinter.

Inspiring Generations: Medal Triumphs



Decades later, Karnam Malleswari made history by clinching India’s first Olympic medal in women’s weightlifting at Sydney 2000, inspiring a new generation. Saina Nehwal’s badminton bronze in 2012 and Mary Kom’s boxing bronze added to India’s growing medal tally.

Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020: Defining Moments



The Rio 2016 Games were defining: PV Sindhu’s silver in badminton and Sakshi Malik’s wrestling bronze underscored India’s prowess. Tokyo 2020 was even more momentous as Mirabai Chanu lifted silver in weightlifting, Lovlina Borgohain punched her way to bronze in boxing, and Sindhu proudly secured her second Olympic medal, a bronze, making her a symbol of resilience and excellence.
