Lionel Messi’s Favorite Goal To Become Art For Charity Auction

Official records tell that Lionel Messi has scored 866 goals for his club and country. The hardcore Messi fans will argue that almost every goal that he has netted has been a work of art. There have been enough discussion in media and literature that which of those 850+ goals has been his best goal yet.

All those discussions and debate will come to an end soon as La Pulga himself will tell to the world about his favorite goal. However, Messi will be adding more meaning to his favorite goal. The Argentina captain has agreed that his favorite goal to be turned into a work of art. The artwork once completed will be put for auction and the proceeds from the auction will be given for charity.

Messi will reveal his favourite goal on May 22. The goal will be converted into an art form by Turkish artist Refik Anadol. The art work will be signed by Messi and Anadol before it is unveiled in New York by auction house Christie’s on June 11.

“Choosing just one goal out of them all is very difficult. Each one is special in its own way, and some are really important or bring back incredible memories. But highlighting one as a favorite for the first time, to make this unique project possible is worth it. There’s a strong purpose behind it, and I’m really happy to be part of it.” Messi has said.

The auction will happen on July 25.

Messi is Argentina’s all-time leading goal scorer. He has netted 112 goals for La Albiceleste. At club level he has played for Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain and Inter Miami. His club goal tally stands at 754.

The exact details of the charity are yet to be revealed.
