KKR won the toss and asked DC to bat. All the Batters took the game forward. Sunil Narine top-scored with (85 off 39) as Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) took apart Delhi Capitals (DC) on Wednesday. On the other hand, Phill Salt, one of the hardest hitters of the ball in modern cricket, clubbed the ball as hard as he could and went on hammering everything. The 18-year-old Angkrish Raghuvanshi, who had begun his innings with a pull and a punch beyond the point fielder for back-to-back fours off Anrich Nortje, was methodically violent. The youngster went on driving the ball perfectly. Yet, as if in a fit of temper, he reverse-hit Rasikh Salam for six. He hit two more sixes off Sumit Kumar and Rasikh to the deep midwicket boundary. Andre Russell and Rinku Singh burned the DC ‘house of hope’ down to cinders.
DC Bowlers had a tough day at the office.
The Capitals came out to bat. During the powerplay, the Delhi Capitals faced a setback, losing four wickets early on. Key players such as David Warner and Mitchell Marsh were dismissed, resulting in a decrease in the team’s attacking prowess at the beginning. However, captain Rishabh Pant exhibited strong determination, scoring a commendable 55 runs from just 25 deliveries. Additionally, Tristan Stubbs contributed significantly to Delhi’s innings, crafting a notable 54 runs from 32 balls. Stubbs’ innings featured four boundaries and two sixes each off the spinners Varun Chakaravarthy and Sunil Narine.
Despite Stubbs and Pant firing from all cylinders, the Delhi Capitals fell short by a massive margin of 106 runs.
The Capitals now travel to Mumbai and play against the Mumbai Indians at the Wankhade on Sunday, 07th April 2024 whereas the in-form Kolkata Knight Riders would be flying to Chennai and battling it out against Thala & his Chennai Super Kings on Monday, 8th April 2024.
