Gurindervir Singh etched his name in the record books with a scintillating 10.20-second sprint in the men’s 100m event at the Indian Grand Prix 1 on Friday. The 24-year-old Punjab sprinter, representing Reliance, shattered the previous national record of 10.23 seconds set by Manikanta Hoblidhar in October 2023.
Singh’s performance marked a significant milestone, improving upon his previous personal best of 10.27 seconds, clocked in 2021.
“I’m extremely happy to have recorded a strong time at the IGP ahead of the Federation Cup in April,” Singh said post-race. “I aimed for a fast run, and breaking the national record was a bonus. I hope to improve further at the Federation Cup in Kochi.”
With his sights set on the Asian Athletics Championships in Gumi, South Korea, this May, Singh remains focused on pushing his limits on the international stage.
