Carlos Alcaraz Walks Away With $2.9million In Prize Money For Winning French Open 2025

Sports fans were treated with an epic match of tennis as World no.1 Jannik Sinner faced-off against World no.2 Carlos Alcaraz in the men’s singles final of the French Open 2025 on Sunday, June 9.

In the match that lasted five hours and 29 minutes, Alcaraz scripted a miraculous comeback to beat Sinner 4-6, 6-7(4), 6-4, 7-6(3), 7-6(10-2) to seal his second French Open title. The match is now the longest Roland-Garros men’s singles final in Open era.

At one stage, 23-year-old Sinner was a point away from sealing the match and clinching his first French Open title. But Alcaraz flipped the script to round-off his fifth straight victory over the Italian and win the fifth Grand Slam title of his career.

The match is already being hailed as one of the greatest Grand Slam finals of all-time.

At 22 Alcaraz is now the third-youngest tennis player to win five Grand Slam titles behind Bjorn Borg and Rafael Nadal. Beyond his two French Open titles, the Spaniard has won Wimbledon twice (2023 and 2024) and the US Open once (in 2022).

The victory has made Alcaraz richer by nearly $3 million. According to Sportico Alcaraz was rewarded with a prize money of $2.9 million. Up until May Alcaraz had earned $3.98million in prize money through his on-court winnings. The website had ranked him only behind women’s no.1 ranked player Aryna Sabalenka, who has had a collective earning of $4.54 million.

Alcaraz will now head to England where in three weeks time will launch his bid to defend the Wimbledon title.
