A Unique, Multi-Disciplinary Sports Academy
Located in the heart of Pune, the Army Sports Institute is India’s first sports academy that combines world-class infrastructure, expert coaching and cutting-edge sports science facilities. The academy specializes in seven core sports disciplines- Archery, Athletics, Boxing, Diving, Wrestling, Fencing and Weightlifting. What stands out here is not the scope of training but even the caliber of support being provided. The Sports Science Cell (SSF)
Science is at the heart of performance enhancement in the Army Sports Institute. The backbone of the mission of the academy is Sports Sciences Faculty (SSF), that brings scientific rigor to the training and performance analysis. Advanced scientific techniques are used by SSF in the assessment and enhancement of every aspect of athletic performance. The SSF team has sports medicine specialists, exercise physiologists, biomechanists, sports nutritionists, sports psychologists, sports physiotherapists, biostatisticians and GTMT specialists who work together to achieve an all-rounded approach in athlete development.
State-Of-The-Art Facilities For Elite Athletes
The Army Sports Institute offers a great training environment to maximize physical and mental performance. The facilities include a Simulated Hypoxic Chamber for high-altitude training, enhancing the endurance and oxygen efficiency of athletes. The Sports Psychology Lab and Relaxation Room are designed to improve mental resilience and concentration, factors critical to success in competition. The academy is also equipped with state-of-the-art equipment for talent scouting and development, where scientific protocols and field analysis are used in identifying and nurturing the up-and-coming athletes. The Human Performance Lab provides critical assessment and improvement of physical conditioning and the Isokinetic Muscle Analysis Lab ensures that the athletes attain peak muscle function. There are also performance nutrition labs with tailored diet advice, along with recovery options such as Hydrotherapy, Sauna, Steam and Contrast Baths that assist in healing and enhancing performance. For injury rehabilitation, the Rehabilitation Gym and a well-equipped 20-bed ward with a minor OT are available for quick recovery. Biomechanical analysis, with 2D and 3D motion analysis, helps perfect movement, correct form and in the end, ensure all aspects of an athlete’s training are optimized for greatest efficiency.

From rehabilitation in specialized gyms to minor surgeries in a 20-bed ward with a minor OT, athletes get the best care possible.
