On Friday, the Indian Cricket Team was getting ready for their ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024 game against Pakistan in New York when skipper, Rohit Sharma got injured again. During practice, a ball from Sri Lankan throwdown specialist Nuwan bounced awkwardly and hit Rohit’s thumb. He was treated immediately however Rohit went back to bat for a few minutes before leaving the practice net.

Amidst Rohit’s injury, fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah’s partner, Sanjana Ganeshan took to the social media posting something that kept the audience guessing.

Well, just to clear the air, the post is only about a campaign in which Mr. and Mrs. Bumrah is involved and not about team India Captaincy. If Rohit can’t play, Hardik Pandya, the vice-captain, might lead the team, and Yashasvi Jaiswal will likely open the batting.

This is not the first time Rohit Sharma has been hit by an uneven bounce offered by the pitch at New York. Earlier, Rohit had injured his hand during a game against Ireland on Wednesday. He was hit on the upper arm by a delivery from pacer Josh Little, which forced him to retire hurt after scoring an unbeaten 52 off 37 balls. In the post-match presentation, Rohit described the injury as a “sore arm.”

The upcoming game against Pakistan is very important for determining the teams that will advance to the Super 8 stage from Group A of the T20 World Cup. The USA is the favorite to advance after winning against Canada and Pakistan. If Pakistan loses to India, they will be out of the tournament since Canada beat Ireland in their second group game on Friday.
