The Ironman 70.3 Challenge The Ironman 70.3 race, which is quite often referred to as “half Ironman,” is a very demanding race, 1.9-kilometer swim, 90 kilometres of cycling, and a final 21.1-kilometer run – all in 113 kilometres. More than 1,200 athletes from over 50 countries participated in this year’s race, demonstrating great physical and mental endurance on this course. Bishworjit Saikhom Wins Men’s Category Indian Army athlete and former Ironman champion Bishworjit Saikhom emerged victorious in the Men’s category among the competitors. Bishworjit, who won the inaugural Ironman 70.3 Goa in 2019 with a time of 4:47:47, returned to claim the title once more, clocking a personal best of 4:32:04. The 32-year-old’s victory came after rigorous training as he sought to reclaim the top spot following a podium absence in previous years. Yasmin Halawa Leads in the Female Category By all counts, the front-runner in the Female category was Egyptian Yasmin Halawa. She held top position on the winners list with 5 hours, 22 minutes and 50 seconds. Another glaring feature, however, that marked both Bishworjit and Halawa, was that they totally reflected the spirit of endurance and will power-a fitting example to young contestants and sportsmen/women in the minds of spectators.
