ICC Champions Trophy 2025 Sets New Viewership Record

The 2025 ICC Champions Trophy, jointly hosted by the UAE and Pakistan, held in February-March this year, saw 368 billion global viewing minutes, the International Cricket Council has confirmed in a statement. According to ICC the global viewing minutes jumped by 19% from the previous edition of Champions Trophy which was held in England and Wales in 2017.

Further the eight-team tournament recorded 308 million global viewing minutes per over, the most ever for an ICC event.

India won the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy after they defeated New Zealand by 4 wickets in the final held in Dubai on March 9. The Rohit Sharma-led side remained unbeaten all through the tournament. It was also the third India won the Champions Trophy tournament in its cricket history. India were the joint winners of the 2002 edition of the tournament alongside hosts Sri Lanka. Eleven years later India clinched their second Champions Trophy title.

The India v New Zealand final registered 65.3 billion live viewing minutes globally to become the most-watched Champions Trophy match ever. The match is now also the third-most watched game in any ICC event globally by live watch time.

ICC Chair Jay Shah has expressed his delight on the success of the tournament.

“We are delighted to share that the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 has achieved record-breaking global viewership, making it the most-watched edition of the tournament to date. Shah has said in a statement.

ICC also confirmed that tournament also broke broadcast records in prominent cricketing territories, including Australia, India and Pakistan. The viewership records were achieved despite Pakistan, one of the co-hosts and the then defending champions, exiting the tournament early.
