AUS v IND: The MCG Rises To Nitish Kumar Reddy

Cricketing tales of sacrifice are often the pillars of success. For a youngster like Nitish Kumar Reddy, the dream of representing India in test match cricket and standing on top of the game happened in the most remarkable of ways-at the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground on Day 3 of the 4th test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Nitish Kumar Reddy Scripts History At The MCG At the age of 21, Nitish Kumar Reddy achieved a feat that no Indian had done before him. Entering at number eight, Reddy became the first ever Indian to score a century in Australia while coming in at number eight. He scored a rather patient 100 runs made off 171 balls inclusive of nine boundaries and a six while playing in front of the daunting crowd at the MCG. While the crowd erupted in applause, the young Reddy stood tall, a wave of relief washing over him, as his century symbolized not just his personal achievement, but the culmination of years of hard work and sacrifice. Reddy’s Father’s Sacrifice Nitish Kumar Reddy’s journey to this moment has not been an easy one. Indeed, it was paved with immense challenges not only for Reddy but also for his family, particularly his father. While many would have doubted the boy’s pursuit of a cricketing career, Reddy’s father remained steady in his support. He had given up a stable job, believing in his son’s potential despite the doubts and criticisms that often came their way. For years, his father had borne the dual load of financial strain and the emotional cost, all that time urging his son on, encouraging him to pursue this dream of the game. Reddy’s Awakening: Cost Of Sacrifice For the young cricket enthusiast, cricket was, after all, just something one enjoyed without fully being conscious of the sacrifices he had to make for him to pursue his dream. However, the time the sacrifice really weighed up: on finances perhaps but it weighed up something bigger-those sacrifices placed enormous weight. In that minute Reddy’s attitude in front of the game went over the wall. He did all his own eyes saw as pain reflected through his father, in those tears Reddy took the vow for a reason. He knew that for the sacrifices his dad made, he had to give everything to his dream. Reddy’s Commitment Towards The Game It was followed by an extreme dedication for a year of that time. Each practice and each match was the ability to prove to himself that to the man who stood by his side for all those years these sacrifices were not wasted on him. He developed really very fast as a person and the changes went not only for skills each day but also as mental strength that would produce performances nobody would doubt again for his talent. Reddy Rises To The Occasion At The MCG It was an emotional moment at the MCG on Saturday, December 28, 2024, after all those years of struggle and a sense that all his sweat had just paid off when he was raising his bat to a crowd as an acknowledgement and a tribute, for a century wasn’t just just a milestone but also gratitude to the man who has made it all possible, his father. Reddy’s century came in front of his father. Nitish Kumar Reddy surely is living all the boys’ dream. The True Measure Of Reddy’s Success In that moment, it would be clear that success did not just lie in the runs scored on the field, but in the strength and determination and support that had shaped Nitish Kumar Reddy to become the player he became. Reddy’s journey was the story of one man’s ambition, a father’s sacrifices, a son’s commitment and the power of self-belief that transforms a dream into reality. The Sportz Planet Desk,Atharva Shetye
Avani Lekhara Wins ESPN India’s Female Para-Athlete 2024 Award

Avani Lekhara has been named ESPN India’s Female Para-Athlete of 2024 after cementing her legacy with her outstanding performance at the Paris 2024 Paralympics. This accolade comes after she successfully defended her Paralympic gold in the women’s 10m air rifle standing SH1 event, making her the first Indian athlete to win back-to-back Paralympic gold medals. Avani Lekhara’s Paralympic Gold Defense At Paris 2024 It was groundbreaking enough when Lekhara triumphed at the Tokyo 2020 Games to become the first Indian woman to win a Paralympic gold and the first female multi-medallist. In Paris, though, she encountered an entirely new set of challenges: recovery from surgery before the Games, for starters, as well as tough competition within India. It was a journey not so easy, but one in which Lekhara displayed true grit to achieve her way onto the podium, delivering another memorable performance. Avani Lekhara’s Clutch Performance At Paris 2024 The Paris 2024 final was a nerve-wracking affair, with the lead changing hands several times. Lekhara, who started slowly, demonstrated remarkable consistency, hitting only one shot below 10. As the competition heated up, she responded under pressure, including two critical shots—10.6 and 10.7—that kept her in contention. The final series was especially intense. With her lead narrowing, it seemed that Lekhara might lose the gold, but a shocking mistake by South Korea’s Lee Yunri, who hit a 6.8, gave Lekhara a chance to take a lead with a clutch 10.5 on her final shot. The result was an emotional moment for the young athlete as she clinched the gold again and made history in the process. From Tragedy To Triumph Lekhara’s road to success is one of perseverance and triumph. After a disastrous car accident at 11 left her in a wheelchair, she found solace in shooting, inspired by Abhinav Bindra’s autobiography. Her passion and dedication led her to Mumbai for training, where she honed her skills under national coach Suma Shirur. Avani Lekhara’s Role In India’s Para-Sport Legacy Lekhara’s success is reflective of the strengthening of the para-sport movement in India, wherein athletes not only overcome adversity but also transcend what was thought possible. It was not merely a question of technique that won Lekhara the victory in Paris; it was a question of mental strength and resilience. A True Legend Of Indian Sports Lekhara is the first Indian athlete to win two successive Paralympic golds. The recognition of Lekhara as the Female Para-Athlete of 2024 by ESPN India further strengthens her position as a true legend in Indian sports. The Sportz Planet Desk,Atharva Shetye

AUS v IND: Should Virat Kohli Have Treated Sam Konstas Better?

The Boxing Day test at the MCG witnessed the 19-year-old Sam Konstas make his international debut in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The Australian rookie immediately made his mark with an audacious batting display, reverse-scooping India’s pace bowling spearhead, Jasprit Bumrah, for a stunning six. This indeed has to be said about the way Konstas approached the game with no fear. Sam Konstas slammed a brisk 60 off 65 balls. Still, what stole all that was happening was an unfortunate fireworks incident when Virat Kohli seemed to deliberately bump his shoulder to Konstas. Did Kohli Bump Konstas Intentionally? Virat Kohli, at one time after an over went up to Sam Konstas and shoulder-shovelled the young Aussie. A seemingly unprovoked body check had people wondering about Kohli’s motives. Was it that he was frustrated with the audacity of the younger bloke or something more? Whatever was there, it made Virat Kohli look aggressive, especially coming out against a debutant who in person is also very young in age. Later in the evening, Virat Kohli was sanctioned 20% of his match fees and given one demerit point by the ICC for his on-field behaviour. Was That Really Needed From Kohli? While emotions often run high in the heat of competition, this incident set questions about the conduct of a player of Kohli’s stature. His actions could be seen as needing to be unnecessarily hostile towards a youngster making the mark on the biggest of stages. Kohli, as one of the most experienced players in world cricket, carries the responsibility of setting a good example for the younger generation. Did Spirit Of Cricket Go For A Toss? Konstas, who had once revealed how much he adored Kohli in the media, seemed to be put between the devil and the deep blue sea. Here was a young cricketer, full of big dreams and with a thirst to prove himself, receiving an unexpected shoulder charge from one of his idols. The confrontation stood starkly against the mutual respect that often defines cricket’s values, where even fiercest rivalries are conducted with a sense of sportsmanship. Should Kohli Have Been A Mentor? This incident raises questions over how senior players treat their junior colleagues, especially on debut. Debut is the time to encourage them, make them feel welcomed and give them all positive vibes. Instead, “welcome to international cricket” would have been in much better taste than this shoulder-bumping gesture which came with an air of irritation for the young man’s uncanny ways of playing. In fact, it was not just about Sam Konstas to prove his worth, but Virat Kohli also had something to show the world – that he was the first one in a competitive atmosphere to have respect for the game as well as respect for one’s fellow players. Senior Players’ Influence On Youngsters It is important to understand that sports are more than just individual performances. It is a team effort and harmony in the dressing room is essential. A leader both on and off the field, Virat Kohli should have realized that his actions could set the wrong tone for the younger generation watching. Sam Konstas may have been a rookie, however, Kohli’s experience should have guided him to a more respectful interaction, one that fostered an environment where new talent could thrive. A Race Between Passion And Sportsmanship For Kohli At the end of it all, when Virat Kohli is most brilliant on the field, it was his passion and intensity that played against him in this instance. Perhaps, he needed more temperance, especially with such young, impressionable players around. Cricket is a game of respect and veterans like Virat Kohli are expected to set a good example, not only in their skills but also in their character. The Sportz Planet Desk,Atharva Shetye
FIFA Implements Interim Framework For Player Transfers

FIFA has announced the adoption of an interim framework concerning its Regulations on the Status and Transfer of Players, following a landmark ruling by the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) in October. Introduction Of FIFA Interim Framework The new framework will come into effect on January 1, 2025 and aims to address the key issues raised by the EU court regarding the legality of certain FIFA rules governing player transfers. The Diarra Case And CJEU Ruling The ruling of the CJEU was based on the case of Lassana Diarra, a former professional footballer who has played for some of the world’s biggest clubs: Chelsea, Arsenal and Real Madrid. The CJEU ruled that parts of FIFA’s player transfer rules were in breach of EU law, specifically free movement principles. This has forced FIFA to review parts of its regulations. Key Changes In The Interim Framework The interim changes mainly revolve around how compensation is computed in breach of contract and who bears the burden of proof in establishing both compensation payable and inducement to breach a contract. The new rules of FIFA replace the old system that the EU court had declared problematic. Instead of specific calculation criteria, the new framework from FIFA has aimed at an objective and transparent compensation system. Compensation will be set at a level that is necessary to restore the party that suffered due to the breach to the position they would have been in had the breach not occurred. Introduction Of “Just Cause” Definition Another important element of the structure is the creation of a general definition of “just cause.” A new definition says that “just cause” occurs whenever it would be unreasonable, in good faith, for either party to continue a contract relationship. This is supposed to clarify when a player or club can have a justifiable reason to end a contract without being penalized. FIFPRO’s Opposition Despite these changes, FIFPRO, the global players’ union, has criticized FIFA’s decision by refusing to engage in talks about the interim changes. In a statement, FIFPRO expressed its concern that it could not agree with FIFA on the amendments that the regulations needed to have in place in order to comply with the CJEU ruling. The union’s opposition to FIFA’s unilateral approach gives an indication of the continuous tension between the global governing body and the players’ representatives. This development on the legal dispute traces way back into 2014 when Diarra left Lokomotiv Moscow, one year into his four-year contract. They presented the case to the Dispute Resolution Chamber by FIFA, arguing that this is a breach of Diarra’s contract because Diarra allegedly cancelled the contract early because they reduced his pay rate. FIFA ruled in favour of the club, ordered Diarra to pay out €10 million in damages. The Impact Of FIFA’s Refusal To Sign The ITC However, the controversy was taken to the next level when FIFA blocked Diarra from joining Belgian club Charleroi by refusing to sign his International Transfer Certificate (ITC). This was the crux of the CJEU’s decision, which held that FIFA’s refusal to sign the ITC infringed EU free movement laws. The ruling of the court was a serious blow to FIFA’s player transfer regulations and it forced the governing body to make changes in accordance with European law. Future Implications Of The Framework The future implications of this framework will be far-reaching, as FIFA progresses with its interim regulatory framework. These changes will affect the European football transfer system significantly. The new regulations are set to provide clarity and fairness in contract disputes, but the controversy over FIFPRO’s objections suggests that dialogue on these issues will continue. The long-term impact of these changes will depend on how FIFA, clubs and players adapt to the new framework and whether further amendments are necessary to fully align with European legal standards. Why Nutritional Literacy Is Important For Indian Grassroots Level Athletes?

In recent years, there has been a lot of hype surrounding nutrition and nutritional literacy in the sports arena. For grassroots level athletes, though, a clear-cut understanding of nutrition remains largely underdeveloped in India. Therefore, nutritional literacy plays a very critical role in enhancing an athlete’s performance, recovery, and general well-being, especially in India where the sports ecosystem is still emerging. The Role Of Nutritional Literacy In Athlete Development Nutritional literacy is the ability to understand and apply essential nutritional knowledge in daily life, especially in the context of sports science. It is very important for grassroots athletes as it directly impacts their energy levels, muscle development, and stamina. However, most grassroots-level athletes in India do not have the right resources or coaching regarding proper nutrition. Without proper nutritional literacy, athletes may lack the energy needed to perform during rigorous training or competition, which may cause them to underperform or become injured. Gap In Sports Science Education In India Sports science in India has grown quite well in recent times. However, the grass roots level is usually the worst affected. While elite athletes may have professional dieticians and trainers to help prepare them for their sport, young athletes in rural towns or cities of smaller population may not have the same resources available. This gap is what nutritional literacy fills. When young athletes understand the fundamentals of nutrition, including the needs for carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins, and minerals, they are better prepared to fuel their body for optimal performance and long-term health. Linking Nutrition To Athlete Health And Performance The connection between athlete health and nutrition is undeniable. Poor nutrition will lead to fatigue, immunosuppression, and even chronic injuries. Grassroots athletes, who generally lack professional guidance, can unknowingly neglect these elements, which can limit the potential in the sport. Nutritional literacy enables the athlete to make informed choices over what he consumes to ensure that it supports short-term performance and long-term athlete health. The Importance Of Nutritional Literacy For Sustainable Performance With the ongoing evolution of sports science in India, grassroots athletes need to outshine others by learning basic aspects of nutrition. A well-planned and balanced diet is of paramount importance for recovery and preventing injuries and building endurance. Nutritional literacy bridges the gap between the raw talent of the athlete and the peak potential. For example, knowing the right time to have meals and hydration along with appropriate nutrient combinations can optimize the results of the training of an athlete and accelerate the recovery process. Empowerment Of Athletes Through Nutritional Literacy For an Indian grassroots athlete, nutritional literacy is an integral part that will enable them to elevate their health status, elevate their athletic performance, and sustain their sporting career. As sports science in India evolves, nurturing such nutritional literacy as a grassroots initiative is one step that will lead to the creation of a stronger and healthier generation of athletes in the country. Law And Ethics Gain Importance At Grassroots Level Sports In India

Law and ethics play a vital role in forming grassroots sports in India, making them fair and equitable. Law And Ethics For Foundation Of A Fair And Inclusive System The grassroots level is all about developing talent, promoting physical fitness and instilling sportsmanship in young athletes. In a nutshell, though, laws and ethics can be achieved if there are transparent laws that guide the morality of behavior. Laws guide the law that protects an athlete’s rights, whereas ethics helps mold moral principles that allow for positive sporting environments to be made. These therefore work to create a sport culture in integrity, fair and responsible ways that do not tamper with a young athlete’s potential. Law And Ethics For Safety And Protection Of The Athletes The laws and ethics are what make way for the protection of health and well-being of an athlete. Grass root sports in India are dominated by children and adolescents who are vulnerable in terms of physical injuries and exploitation and abuse. Mandate of laws about the protection of the players in which proper training, equipment, and medical care ensure that such sports activities do not endanger the athletes. Ethical considerations, including making certain that coaches and organizers respect athlete boundaries and rights, have equal importance. In general, when legal and ethical standards are both respected, athletes can compete with much more confidence, knowing their welfare takes precedence. Law And Ethics For Preventing Corruption And Exploitation At the grassroots level of sports, where resources may not be as available and monitoring may be lax, a culture of corruption and exploitation at times thrives. Law and ethics offer a way of controlling these problems since they ensure transparency and accountability. Laws that regulate funding, selection procedures and the distribution of resources prohibit favoritism, nepotism and bribery from finding their way into sports. Ethical principles such as fairness, honesty and respect for all participants make sure that sports are not utilized for personal or financial benefits. Together, they create a healthy competitive environment where every individual has an equal chance to achieve success, irrespective of the background. Law And Ethics For Social Inclusion And Equality India is a diverse country with various backgrounds in social, cultural and economic fields. Grassroots sports can help overcome societal barriers and create an environment of social inclusion. Laws that provide equal opportunities to all, irrespective of caste, gender or economic status, make sports accessible to every individual. Ethical principles also lay emphasis on treating all participants with respect and dignity. Adhering to legal and ethical standards will make grassroots sports in India a platform for social change, building unity and promoting equality across communities. Law And Ethics For Building Trust And Credibility Trust and credibility are also important for grassroots sports to boom. The existence of the laws and ethical guidelines implies that all stakeholders, that is, athletes, coaches, officials and parents, trust the system. When all the laws are followed and ethical standards are preserved, there is less opportunity for manipulation, cheating, or misconduct. This builds the credibility of grassroots sports for more people to get interested and support the cause. Ultimately, strong legal and ethical foundations help in building a sustainable and vibrant sporting culture at the grassroots level in India. The Sportz Planet Desk,Atharva Shetye
AUS v IND: Tanush Kotian’s Story From Mumbai To Melbourne

Mumbai’s off-spin-bowling all-rounder Tanush Kotian, received his biggest call-up for a place in the Indian Cricket Team for the fourth test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy to be held in Melbourne. Kotian Still In His Early Days Aged just 26, Kotian’s call-up for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 brings him to a new pinnacle as part of his cricketing journey built after years of arduous work, dogged persistence, and relentless commitment to cricketing. His rise to the Indian Cricket Team is a sign of India’s domestic cricket systems in producing world-class talent. From Local Streets To Professional Cricket Tanush Kotian’s cricketing journey started on the streets of Vikhroli, a suburb in Mumbai, where he honed his skills in the highly competitive environment of the city’s local cricket scene. A versatile player in his early years, Kotian began as an opening batsman and even bowled pace before a growth spurt pushed him to specialize in off-spin. His father, a semi-professional cricketer who runs a coaching academy, played a vital role in fostering his love for the game. Kotian Breaking Through With Mumbai Tanush Kotian’s breakthrough came when he joined Mumbai’s senior team in the 2022-2023 season after being dropped early in his career. Despite the setback, Kotian’s determination saw him rise through the ranks, leading to consistent performances that garnered attention. His off-spin bowling, along with his rise as a batsman, made him a true all-rounder. With his ability to extract turn and bounce at a pace of 85-90kph, Tanush Kotian’s bowling has often drawn comparisons with R. Ashwin, India’s legendary off-spinner. Tanush Kotian Shines In The Domestic Circuit Tanush Kotian’s stint with Mumbai in the season 2023-24 was nothing but phenomenal. He played a pivotal role in Mumbai’s historic Ranji Trophy victory, winning the Player-of-the-Tournament award with 502 runs and 29 wickets. His all-round brilliance included a memorable first-class century against Baroda, where he scored 120 runs off 115 balls at No. 10, setting a record 232-run partnership with Tushar Deshpande. His performances in the semi-finals and finals further stamped his reputation, with contributions like his 89* against Tamil Nadu and 7 wickets in the final against Vidarbha. Tanush Kotian’s India A Call-Up These performances not only helped Mumbai win the Ranji Trophy for the 42nd time but also caught the eye of the national selectors. A few months later, Kotian was selected for the India A team, which toured Australia ahead of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. His stellar performances in domestic cricket, coupled with his excellent temperament and technical abilities, made him a strong contender for a spot in the senior squad. Is Tanush Kotian Called-Up To Fill Ashwin’s Shoes? Tanush Kotian’s rise also coincided with the retirement of R. Ashwin from international cricket, as a move that opened a window of opportunity for such emerging spin bowlers like Kotian. Ashwin, whose impact on Indian spin bowling has been monumental, became a guide for Kotian when he joined Rajasthan Royals for the IPL 2024. Although Kotian didn’t feature much in the tournament, the learnings for the young cricketer must have been very rich indeed from people like Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal and Keshav Maharaj. It is well known that playing IPL helped him get more refined on how to play the spin bowlers in proper red-ball cricket. Rahane Backs Kotian Despite his success, Tanush Kotian remains focused on improving his skills. As Ajinkya Rahane, Mumbai’s captain, once told him, his next challenge is to continue evolving as a bowler who can take wickets even when conditions aren’t favorable for spin. This advice from Rahane reflects Kotian’s constant desire to push boundaries, a quality that will serve him well as he transitions to the international stage. Now all eyes would turn toward the promising newcomer as Tanush Kotian is scheduled to board for Melbourne to play with the Indian Cricket Team while hoping to behold the new chapter in India’s journey towards spin bowling legacy. How Do Athletes Distinguish Between Good Fat And Bad Fat?

Sports science has a lot to do with the role of fat in an athlete’s diet. Athletes often face the challenge of distinguishing between “good” fat and “bad” fat, which play different roles in the body. Understanding The Role Of Fat In Athlete Health Fat, a macronutrient, is also important to athletes since it provides them with concentrated sources of energy, particularly when working out for long hours. Yet not all fats are created equal. A balanced good and bad fats content will spell success to athletes in maintaining health. Sports science in India, just like elsewhere, focuses on the inclusion of healthy fats and minimal harmful fats for enhanced performance and a reduction in chronic diseases. Good Fat Good fats, or unsaturated fats, are present in foods such as avocados, nuts, seeds and fatty fish. These fats help with heart health and improve the sensitivity of one’s body to insulin; they also provide a steady source of energy during endurance activities. Sports science encourages athletes to consume good fats because it helps with long-term performance and recovery. These fats help in the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins, such as vitamins A, D, E and K, for overall health and recovery. Bad Fat Bad fats, which are mainly trans fats and saturated fats, come from processed foods, fried items and fatty cuts of meat. These can cause inflammation, weight gain and increase the risk of heart disease. Sports science has focused on the risks associated with high levels of bad fats, especially for athletes, as these can lead to poor performance by causing slowness, fatigue and poor muscle recovery. These unhealthy fats can further lead to the accumulation of body fat, which degrades the athletic performance, especially in the game which requires speed and agility. Fat Science The increasing trend among sports scientists in India, however, is recognizing that it is not how much fat a person has but what quality of fat. Good versus bad fats allow an athlete to have better body composition, improved performance and reduce the incidence of injury. Proper balancing of good fats sustains energy levels, an absolute necessity for athletes under strenuous training and competition. Maximizing Athlete Performance With The Right Fat Understanding good and bad fat is the foundation of an athlete’s diet. Sports science gives athletes tools to make informed choices that would support performance, recovery and long-term athlete health. By focusing on good fats and minimizing bad fats, athletes can maximize their potential both on and off the field. The Sportz Planet Desk,Atharva Shetye
Who Can And Cannot Qualify For The WTC 2025 Final?

The race for the 2025 World Test Championship (WTC) Final is heating up at Lord’s, with just a few critical series left to be played. The Road To WTC 2025 Final With the WTC 2025 cycle in its final stages, everyone is keenly watching for the remaining series. Let us break down who can still qualify and who has fallen off the boat. 1. South Africa South Africa are currently leading the WTC standings with a healthy 63.33% of possible points. Their whitewash of Sri Lanka and series win over Bangladesh have put them in a very commanding position. The Proteas have two important home Tests remaining against Pakistan and if they continue their winning form, they will be well-placed to secure their spot in the final. Their best possible finish stands at 69.44%, which should be enough to see them through to Lord’s, assuming they maintain their momentum. 2. Australia The defending WTC champions, Australia, are in second place with 58.89% of the possible points. Their recent performances, including a dominant pink-ball win over India in Adelaide, have kept them in the race. With two important home Tests against India and two away matches against Sri Lanka remaining, Australia could theoretically draw 2-2 with India and still stay in contention. Their best possible finish is 67.54% and they will need to win at least one of the upcoming Tests against India to keep their hopes alive. 3. India India, with 55.88% of possible points, are in a precarious position. Although they had a brilliant win over Australia in Perth, India’s hopes of qualification were doused when they lost to Australia in the second Test. They have two Tests left in their current series against Australia and they need to win both to have any chance of qualifying for the final. Even then, they will depend on other series results to go their way. India’s best possible finish is 60.53% and anything less than a 2-0 win over Australia will leave their fate in the hands of other teams. 4. Sri Lanka Sri Lanka, with 45.45% of possible points, are still technically in contention, but their path to the final is extremely challenging. After a 2-0 whitewash by South Africa, their hopes took a severe beating. With two more crucial home Tests against Australia in January, Sri Lanka need to win both of those and hope for a series of favorable results elsewhere. Its best possible finish is at 53.85%. They’ll need a near perfect run and a lot of luck to make it to the final. 5. England England, who were once in contention, have now fallen out of the race following a series of disappointing results, including their losses to Pakistan. Although they clinched a 2-1 series victory over New Zealand, their hopes were dashed by a heavy loss in the final Test. With just 43.18% of possible points, England cannot qualify for the WTC 2025 final. 6. New Zealand New Zealand’s hope of making to their second WTC final got crushed after a miserable series against England. Having earlier in the cycle achieved a great win over India, recent defeats have sealed off all chances for them. At their best, with a finish of 48.21%, they stand to have no chance of entry into the final as many teams have already surpassed them on the points table. 7. Pakistan Pakistan with 33.33% possible points mathematically can stay in the race for a qualification. Their probability to qualify will be tough though, given their best outcome in terms of percentages would merely reach 52.38%, which hardly has much scope to end up with any of the top-two rankings. However, they can play four tests with two on their tour against South Africa and two more on an incoming tour of the West Indies, but unless a series of unbelievable events, qualification won’t happen their way. 8. Bangladesh Bangladesh is at the bottom of the table, scoring only 31.25% of the available points and their tournament is already over. The win against West Indies at the end of the round helped them to marginally recover from earlier defeats. Bangladesh cannot qualify for the WTC 2025 final. 9. West Indies West Indies is also mathematically out of contention. They are currently sitting at ninth place with only 24.24% of possible points. The West Indies have shown moments of brilliance but inconsistency has cost them so dearly. Their two remaining Tests against Pakistan can bring some consolation, but the hopes of qualification for the West Indies are already over. With just a handful of matches left, the race for the WTC 2025 Final is far from decided, however it’s clear that South Africa, Australia and India are the teams to watch in these final few months of competition. Which two teams do you think will make it to the ICC WTC 2025 Final? The Sportz Planet Desk,Atharva Shetye
